Visit the Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area

Of all the outdoor activities to do in Valdosta, this is #1! Unlike its rather bland name, the Grand Bay Wildlife Management Area is a beautiful area to commune with nature. The sights, sounds, and smells are intoxicating, and the entire area is very peaceful. You’ll find excellent signage throughout the site, too, with explanations and stories that bring it to life. Plus, access is easy! They have over a half-mile of boardwalks throughout the area, so it’s easy and safe to get around. (It’s wheelchair accessible, too!) Plus, at the end of the boardwalk, there’s a fire tower you can ascend! The views of Valdosta from the top are well worth the trip! For the youngest kids, it might be a little underwhelming, it’s true. Strolling through Grand Bay, though, is a beautiful way for the rest of the family to get back to nature.
